The College of Saint Rose: Passion. Knowledge. Purpose.

The College of Saint Rose has been recognized as one of “the Best Northern Universities” by U.S. News and World Report

Most students are like you - wanting to attend a private college, but not sure how to afford it. At Saint Rose, we are proud to say that our total cost (including tuition, fees, room and board) is one of the lowest of any private college in the Northeast, while offering the kind of powerful academic programs and talented faculty found in colleges and universities double or even triple our cost. This year, we will award more than $24 million in Saint Rose scholarships, grants and financial aid to 98% of our students.

The College of Saint Rose has been recognized as one of “the Best Northern Universities” by U.S. News and World Report, citing our 63 undergraduate and accelerated dual degree programs, our low student faculty ratio of 14:1, and our average class size of 20 students. As for remarkable outcomes, our graduates are accepted into the most prestigious graduate schools or are selected for immediate placement in career-track jobs. Saint Rose also offers a values-based education - cultivating students to become energetic citizen leaders through extensive service opportunities locally, in other parts of the U.S. and in Honduras.

As you progress in your college search journey and start exploring your career options, we want you to know the advantages and opportunities that New York’s capital city offers - with internships and field placements at large, multinational corporations, entrepreneurial firms, research hospitals, non-profit organizations, government agencies and school districts. These hallmark experiences will provide you the opportunity to build credentials for graduate school, develop your job skills, and network with leaders who will put your career on the fast track. Plus, Albany is everything you want in a college town. It is an intellectual, sophisticated, artistic, and diverse city.

Perhaps our clearest commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience are the cranes and bulldozers that have been a continuous sight on the campus, ensuring that students are learning and living in state-of-the-art facilities. Saint Rose has invested nearly $90 million in new construction, property acquisitions and renovations. Recent projects include:
  • This summer the Main Dining Hall was completely renovated into a two-tiered floor plan, including a flat-screen television, couches and a fireplace.

  • Construction of the Center for Communications and Interactive Media, slated for completion in January 2010, will feature a television studio, internet radio station, newspaper production lab, music studio with recording lab, video projection room and multimedia computer labs.

  • For our athletic teams, the College is creating an outdoor sports complex with an NCAA level baseball field, softball field and an artificial turf soccer/lacrosse field as well as a natural grass practice field. These fields will be the home fields for the Saint Rose Golden Knights who have regularly won bids to NE-10 conference and Division II national tournaments. When the College is not using the fields, the city’s recreation department will use the complex for youth leagues.

  • Completed in 2008, the 46,000-square-foot Massry Center for the Arts features the 400-seat Kathleen McManus Picotte Recital Hall, the spacious Esther Massry Gallery, large choral and instrument rehearsal rooms that acoustically match the recital hall, as well as plenty of gathering spaces, in an environment of natural light and wood that inspires creativity and conversation.

  • The 56,000-square-foot Thelma P. Lally School of Education features an on-site speech, hearing and special education clinic as well as a pre-school that enables students to observe and work with children under the supervision of faculty. The Lally School also features a curriculum and children’s library, a center for technology in teaching and a multimedia forum that hosts national speakers, debates and webcasts.

Everything starts with the desire to be more than you are today. A Saint Rose education instills students with the passion, knowledge, and purpose, not only to do great things - but extraordinary things, not just for themselves, but for the wider world.
