Description:

Representatives from more than 300 two-year and four-year colleges, nursing schools and business schools will participate in the Westchester-Putnam College Conferences. The first Conference will be held at the Westchester County Center in White Plains on Tuesday, October 18th from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. The second Conference will be held at Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights on Thursday, October 20th from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Officers and enlisted personnel from the various branches of the military services will also be on hand to discuss the military's enlistment and education programs such as R.O.T.C., the military academies, and the GI Bill. Also, student loan officers from a number of local banks will have literature and application forms for government subsidized and regular bank loan programs.

The College Conference is a timesaving opportunity for students and parents to gather a lot of information in one day. In addition to asking questions, students and parents will be able to set up college interviews, pick up literature and learn about the various financial aid programs available.

Before you arrive at the College Conference, check the list of participating colleges and schools found on pages 10 and 11 and select the ones that most interest you. This preparation will allow you more time to speak with college representatives.

Read through this issue of College Conference Manual. There are many articles and items of information which will be helpful to you. Parents may wish to review the Financial Aid Process section beginning on page 57. The more prepared you are for the College Conference, the more you’ll get out of it.

Directions:
FROM THE NORTH, Taconic Parkway to Route 202/35 (Yorktown Heights/Peekskill/Mercy College) exit. Follow the signs to Route 202/35 East. Turn left onto Route 202/35 and proceed east for 1.6 miles. The high school entrance is on your right.

FROM THE SOUTH, Taconic Parkway to Route 202/35 (Yorktown Heights/Mercy College) exit. Turn right onto Route 202/35 and proceed east for 1 mile. The high school entrance is on your right.

FROM THE WEST, Route 202 east to the Taconic Parkway junction and proceed as in FROM THE SOUTH.

FROM THE EAST, Route 35 West for 8.3 miles from Interstate 684 (Exit 6: Katonah/Cross River). The entrance to the high school is on your left.

(Note that Routes 202 and 35 are the same road through Yorktown.)
