Niagara University Offers Students a Variety of Financial Aid Options

Niagara University’s financial aid program is one of the most comprehensive in the nation.

Responding to concerns about the rising cost of higher education, Niagara University continues to strengthen the breadth of financial aid packages that it offers to freshmen and transfer students.

Specific increases to the scholarship program include freshman awards that range from $7,500 to $15,000 per year, and transfer awards that range from $7,500 to $11,000 annually. In addition, all awards are renewable for each year that the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.

“We know that families recognize the quality and advantages of private higher education but have concerns in this economy about financing,” noted Michael Konopski, Dean of Enrollment Management at Niagara. “These new scholarship levels will recognize students’ academic achievement and make Niagara an even more affordable option.”

Niagara University’s financial aid program is one of the most comprehensive in the nation, with more than 98 percent of its current applicants receiving a financial assistance package. The University’s commitment to helping students and their families afford an exceptional college education corresponds with Niagara’s Vincentian tradition of assisting those from all walks of life, regardless of their economic or social backgrounds.

Merit-based scholarships, achievement awards, and grants are available for incoming first-year students, and are determined by their cumulative high school average and standardized test scores. Better yet, these awards are applicable for each of their four years at Niagara and, because the University’s merit-based scholarships, awards, and grants are based on a sliding scale, there can be many positive variations. In addition, a student may be eligible for other assistance based on their financial need.

Another way that Niagara University helps to contain its students’ tuition costs is through the University’s nationally recognized Level Tuition Program, which allows freshmen students to lock in one tuition rate for all four years of attendance. This innovative program is unique in the area, and it gives participants the assurance of knowing that their tuition rate will not increase over the course of their studies at Niagara. At least one-third of Niagara freshmen participate in the Level Tuition Program.

The University’s new Vincentian Scholars Program offers an annual, renewable scholarship of $5,000 to three incoming freshmen each year. Designed to meet community needs, the Vincentian Scholars Program is a unique curriculum that prepares students to step in and assist local, regional and national organizations that work with the poor and oppressed.

Students enrolled in Niagara’s nursing completion program are offered a 50 percent discount on tuition. This program offers nurses with an associate’s degree or diploma the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degree from Niagara.

In most cases, Niagara University can find innovative ways to make its premier, holistic education affordable to qualified students. From merit-based scholarships and need-based grants to the Level Tuition Program and monthly payment plans, the University’s Office of Financial Aid has assisted thousands of students in transforming their dream of attending Niagara into reality.
