Elms College offers intramural and recreational sports as well as many other social and cultural opportunities. Elms College is a member of the Cooperating Colleges of Greater Springfield (CCGS) in which students can share and enjoy the academic resources of seven private and public nearby colleges.
Our students develop character as well as intellect, and are empowered to use their newfound knowledge to make positive changes in the world. Service learning enables them to gain a better understanding of the needs of the community – and the world – in which they live, and their responsibility to help. Social justice is interwoven into every aspect of student life at Elms, and yearly programs offer investigation and discussion of issues affecting the community and the world today. Past programs have focused on diversity, capital punishment, the war in Iraq, immigration and refugees, and the environment. The Elms College campus is home to the Irish Cultural Center and the Polish Center of Discovery and Learning, an Academic Resource Center, and a Career Center. The college offers English as a Second Language courses, Internships, Study Abroad programs, Japanese language and culture courses, an exchange program with Kochi Women’s University in Japan, and international study and service opportunities in France, Italy, England, Ireland, Greece, China, and Jamaica.
In addition to the full-time undergraduate population, Elms also enrolls 280 part-time and 300 graduate students.
