What you should wear to a college fair

Tuesday, August 09, 2011

You plan to attend a college fair, but you will not be the only student there. As a result, you definitely want to make a good impression with the school representatives that you encounter at this event.

To avoid becoming just another face in the crowd at a college fair, you can start by picking out the right wardrobe. CollegeAnswer.com, a college planning Web site, says that to make a good impression, you should dress appropriately.

For example, in a Northbrook Patch article, writer Frank Medina suggested that you wear clothing that looks good, is comfortable and not in any way detrimental to your confidence. While you may look dapper in a suit, if it is going to make you feel uneasy, then it is best to leave it back in the closet.

Medina recommends that both boys and girls opt for a clean pair of khakis, a polo or button-down shirt and a v-neck sweater for a look that is comfortable and professional. Nice clothes have the potential to make the right impression, as Medina said that seasoned college admissions officers can easily pick out serious students when they walk through the door.
