Use the summer to research scholarships

Thursday, July 07, 2011
Sure, the summer is a great time to hit the beach or simply hang around the pool all day. However, with the hiatus from schoolwork, summer is the ideal time for high school students to research college scholarships.

Let’s face it, college is expensive. If you feel that you may require assistance paying for higher education it’s a good idea to know what types of scholarships are available to college-bound individuals.

Scholarship America, a non-profit private sector scholarship organization, recommends that students use the summer to start their scholarship research since award opportunities are posted throughout the year. You might compile a list or bookmark on your computer the scholarships for which you might be eligible.

As students conduct their research, they may be a bit surprised by some of the scholarships that are available. For instance, The Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship provides renewable full tuition and housing scholarships for students who are golf caddies and are sponsored by a golf or country club.

Meanwhile, all those hours spent watching Star Trek may pay off yet, as The Starfleet Academy Scholarships are available to students who have been members of the International Star Trek Fan Association for at least one year.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800546760-ADNFCR
