Use Pinterest as part of your college planning process

Monday, June 11, 2012
Social media Web sites can often become a distraction when trying to accomplish tasks online such as searching for colleges. However, there are ways you can combine your love of social media with your college preparations.

One way to accomplish this is through the increasingly popular Web site, Pinterest. The site allows its users to take pictures that they find on the Web and organize them by theme on virtual  pin boards. Pinterest also allows users to share their posts or "pins" with other Pinterest  users, making the site a fun and interactive way to see what other college-bound students find appealing.

As a prospective college student you could use Pinterest to help you decide what type of school you could see yourself attending. For example, you can scour the Internet and find images that best define your ideal college, then pin them on a college-themed pin board. From there you can look at your completed pin board and try to find a school that has things in common with the images you pinned.

When the time comes for you to start thinking about living in a college dorm, you can use Pinterest to organize the different items you feel are dorm room essentials. If your friends are also using the Web site, you can see what dorm supply pictures they are pinning and get some new ideas.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800794394-ADNFCR
