Special college fairs for Hispanic and Latino students

Tuesday, September 11, 2012
Hispanic and Latino students often have a unique set of needs and concerns regarding the college search process.

While this demographic has been identified by the Pew Research Center's Pew Hispanic Center as the largest minority group attending college today, Hispanics and Latinos are still underrepresented and may need assistance transitioning from high school to college. The Career Council and National Hispanic College Fairs (CC/NHCF) organizes college fairs specially designed to address the needs of this college-bound population.

Students who attend a CC/NHCF event can learn about the higher education options available to them by visiting the many college representatives present at the event. Representatives from two- and four-year colleges as well as those from career and vocational training programs will be on hand to answer students’ questions.

If you attend a CC/NHCF event you will receive a list of questions you should ask college officials, printed in both English and Spanish. You can ask these or your own questions to find out about college programs, campus life, athletics, scholarships, grants and other methods of paying for college. You can fill out information cards to receive additional information from schools and you are sure to leave the event with a tote bag full of college brochures.

National Hispanic College Fairs can be found in more than 50 locations throughout the country, including California, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts and New York. Visit the Career Council's Web site for a complete list of locations and dates.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800860305-ADNFCR - helping you find colleges and universities that offer the accredited programs that most interest you.
