Online college fairs feature comprehensive information without the crowds

Wednesday, January 18, 2012
If you are ready to begin the college search, you don’t have to wait for a college fair to be scheduled in your area to preview numerous colleges in one spot. All you have to do is turn on your computer to attend an online college fair.

These Web-based alternatives to brick and mortar college fairs have made the college search easier by allowing students to "walk" through the event at their own pace from anyplace there is an Internet connection – home, school, the local coffee shop, even in the park. And the resources and features at an online fair are the same as what you would get at a traditional college fair.

CollegeWeekLive.com hosts online college fairs that provide an experience similar to an in-person event. According to the Web site, a CollegeWeekLive fair begins in a virtual lobby where you can map out your time online.

During one of the larger CollegeWeekLive events, you can visit virtual booths that represent hundreds of the nation’s colleges and universities. At these booths, you can view videos, listen to podcasts, or download brochures or college course catalogs. Admissions representatives from these schools are also prepared to chat via text or video so you do not have to miss out on the personal aspect of traditional college fairs.

Another online college fair you can look into is GreenCollegeTour.com, which is offered by Marketwise Consulting, a software collaboration solutions company. According to the Web site, these events provide virtual campus tours and live chats with college admission counselors.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800687577-ADNFCR
