Make a trip to a college fair

Friday, June 17, 2011
Although the thought of a fair might make conjure up pictures of carousels, prizes and cotton candy, you probably will not find any of these things at a college fair. However, if your idea of a prize is a chance to become better prepared for your future, then you are in luck.

According to CollegeBoard.com, college fairs provide opportunities to meet with representatives from a number of colleges and universities all in one place. At the fair you can receive information regarding the various aspects of college life, from campus activities to available courses.

College fairs can take many shapes and sizes, from a small exhibition in a school gymnasium to a large gathering in a conference center. No matter the format, the important thing to keep in mind is that these events are designed to assist you with your college planning.

Mapping Your Future, a national public service, nonprofit organization, advises students to attend a college fair at the beginning of senior year, however students of all ages and their parents are welcome to attend. Getting as many facts as you can early in the search process may help you pinpoint your ideal school. Then, you will have more time to make getting into this school your main focus, rather than wasting your energy on schools that are not right for you.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800533001-ADNFCR
