It is not too late to apply to college

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

The end of the school year is an exciting time for students preparing for college. However, not everyone has secured a place on campus for the fall. Any student who is not yet formally enrolled for the fall but still wants to try to find a spot should know about a few options available to them.

Most schools had their final enrollment numbers for fall 2014 by May 1, the deadline for students to accept admission offers. However, there are instances where colleges did not reach enrollment capacity and still have spaces to fill. Forbes reported that there are hundreds of colleges still actively seeking students for the fall semester, and many of these schools offer student financial aid for anyone applying late. Colleges still accepting applications present a number of options, ranging from major public universities to smaller private schools.

If you are still interested in attending college in the fall, it is important to move quickly, as there is sure to be competition for both remaining space and financial aid.

The College Board recommends speaking with a school counselor or principal immediately to alert them of your intentions and perhaps garner advice. You should also set aside time to write out a revised personal essay and perfect applications. Addressing your situation, as well as any extenuating circumstances that may have prevented you from making a college decision earlier, could create a clear line of communication with admissions personnel. - helping you find colleges and universities that offer the accredited programs that most interest you.
