How to prepare for a college fair

Thursday, June 30, 2011
The college admissions process can be an overwhelming experience for some students. From researching colleges and universities to meeting the required deadlines, there is an awful lot to remember. And all this is happening while you are balancing high school and other personal responsibilities.

However, an activity that should be on every students’ college to-do list is to attend a college fair.

According to the National Association for College Admission Counseling, more than 500,000 students attend these events annually in an effort to learn about different schools and their programs. In addition, these gatherings present an opportunity for individuals to obtain college information that may not be available in a school’s brochure or on its Web site.

So how do students prepare for college fairs? More importantly, how should you?

Joan Franklin of the Mercer Island Reporter suggests doing a little research before attending a college fair. This might include reviewing a list of schools will be represented at the event.

In addition, Franklin recommends that students bring a notebook so that they can jot down information that will be of good use to them as the college admissions process intensifies.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800543253-ADNFCR
