How to apply business principles to success in college

Thursday, June 09, 2011
Unless you plan to major in business in college, you probably do not have much of an interest in the subject. However, some basic business principles can put you on the road to success in college, regardless of your major.

Entrepreneurs, or business owners, need to be responsible, know how to manage their time and finances and meet important deadlines. That sounds like traits the average college student needs.

Running a business can be stressful and so can college. In order to minimize anxiety, Steve Mariotti, founder of Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, recommends eating right, getting enough sleep and exercise, in addition to strengthening the relationships one has with their family and friends. This simple advice might make college life a little more manageable.

In business, time is money. At college, students need time to study. Mariotti suggests that individuals plan how they will spend the days, weeks, months and years ahead.

If you do decide to pursue a career in business, you might be interested to learn that earning an undergraduate degree in business administration can lead to employment as a regional sales manager and a salary of between $70,000 and $108,442 per year. ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800527172-ADNFCR
