Honor educators during National Teacher Appreciation Week

Thursday, May 01, 2014

Whether you are beginning or ending your college search, it is very likely that you have turned to your high school teachers for advice and guidance. These educators provide everything from academic support to letters of recommendation during your time in high school. While you may have thanked them throughout the year, now is a special time to bestow your thanks and recognition.

This year, National Teacher Appreciation Week runs from May 4 to 10, and it provides the perfect opportunity for students to credit those educators who have helped them succeed. The official National Teacher's Day is May 6, and you can give a special thank you to the educators, counselors and administrators who have helped you through the college search any time during this week.

Something as simple as a handwritten card will undoubtedly be appreciated by teachers. For those you want to make a more public expression of thanks, consider posting a tweet using the hashtag #thankateacher and join the thousands nationwide, including President Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Chelsea Clinton and the folks at Intel and NASA, recognize the people who taught them to read, write, draw, act, and even make a baking soda and vinegar volcano. - helping you find colleges and universities that offer the accredited programs that most interest you.
