Christian college fairs feature schools dedicated to faith and learning
| Thursday, February 02, 2012 |
If you are searching for a college that shares your Christian values, you may want to consider attending a Christian college fair in addition to the more general admissions events.
On its Web site, the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) states that there are nearly 4,500 degree-granting schools throughout the country. Of the 1,600 private or nonprofit colleges, approximately 900 are religiously affiliated. These schools represent a variety of religious beliefs including those of numerous Protestant denominations, Roman Catholicism and Judaism. Schools that are represented at Christian college fairs are generally Protestant-affiliated.
You can learn more about these schools, including their academics, values-based curriculum and faith-centered activities by attending one of the many Christian college fairs sponsored by the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals. A complete list of fair locations is available at the National Christian College Fairs Web site, www.nccf.us. All fairs are free and do not require preregistration.
The majority of Christian college fairs are held September, October and November. In Florida, some events are scheduled in the spring. In addition to numerous college booths to visit, the fairs also offer at least one 30-minute financial aid seminar featuring information about paying for college and ways to make higher education more affordable.
