A liberal arts education creates a diverse skill set

Monday, July 25, 2011
Some students have multiple academic interests, while others are unsure about what area of study they want to focus on during their college years. In either scenario, a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences can meet these individuals' needs.

Typically, a Liberal Arts and Sciences degree provides the student with a well-rounded and broad education including courses in mathematics, science, languages, the arts and history. However, students may wonder what exactly they can do with this degree after they graduate.

Katherine Hansen of QuintCareers.com, a career, job and college resource Web site, writes that the communications skills that Liberal Arts and Sciences majors acquire are highly sought after by employers.

According to CollegeBoard.com, a higher education research organization, students who pursue a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences hone their writing and reading skills and broaden their knowledge of subjects across disciplines. Furthermore, they learn how to make connections between subjects that, on the surface, may not seem all that similar.

After completing these programs, individuals are equipped with knowledge and a set of skills that graduates with specialized degrees may not have had a chance to acquire.ADNFCR-16000756-ID-800560018-ADNFCR
